Tired Of Your New Year’s Resolutions? Here’s Some Better Ones.
With January over halfway over, how are your New Year's resolutions going? We all know New Year's resolutions are extremely popular, but also usually extremely unsuccessful. Resolutions can often be rushed, pressurized, and just not really aligned with our everyday life the way that we think that they will. Resolutions like exercise everyday, do some big crazy diet, or lose 50 pounds don't really feel attainable once we hit January 15th.
Now some of us have already thought about this, and had resolutions that were more attainable. Maybe you just want to lose some weight this year, or try to eat more vegetables, or go out and walk during the week. Not all resolutions are bad or unattainable, but they're often made without us fully considering our everyday life or the everyday things that really need our energy and attention. So, as we enter into the second month of 2023, we here at Original Breath Builder wanted to offer you some gentler, more fun resolutions that hopefully you can really carry with you into the rest of your New Year.
Make time to have fun
This can sound silly, but whether you are creative or an extremely high performer, making time to actually have fun is in itself a really big deal. A lot of us forget to have fun or to schedule it into our days at all. We assume anything fun is wasting your time or is taking us away from the things that we really need to be doing. But actually having fun is amazing for our health, our stress, and our relationships. When we actually have fun, we're more relaxed for the people we love, our heart rates go down, and we learn more about ourselves and the lives that we really wish we had.
So what is fun for you? You may not have asked this question of yourself for a really long time, so we encourage you to really sit with it and explore some things that are fun for you. They could be as small as watching movies with your family, or going out to the park. Or they could be bigger things, like big trips or sports that you haven't played in forever. Maybe you enjoy going to concerts, or you want to go see more sports games, or you wish that you had more fun date nights with your partner.
You may not even know what you find fun anymore. And that's why we really recommend this as a resolution in 2023. Pick one afternoon a week to go out and do something fun. Even if at first it's just finding out what you find fun!
Go play games with your kids, or dust off your favorite video game, or watch the movies that you really love. Even if it doesn't seem that important, having fun is so crucial to really enjoying life and to having the happy healthy life that we all really want to have. And who knows, you might achieve those goals of losing weight or lowering your cholesterol along the way
Pick one small healthy habit
We're not going to be super specific here, because this needs to be specifically what works best for you. But in all the health-based and health craze goals, we can forget that it's the really small everyday changes that make the biggest impact. Or at least give us the foundation for those big changes that we want to make down the road. So, we encourage you to pick one small healthy habit that will put you one step closer towards the lifestyle or the body that you really wish you had. Maybe it's going on a walk every other day, eating a vegetable with one of your meals everyday, or making time to train your breath.
This is one of the reasons that we really love the Original Breath Builder, because it's a great way to have a simple, attainable routine that makes a big impact on your lungs, your heart and your health. Just spending a few minutes a day using your Original Breath Builder can increase your lung capacity, help your heart rate, and increase your cardiovascular ability for things like running, hiking, or just everyday life. Your breath is the core of your day-to-day life, and when your breath is stronger, you are stronger.
But there are any number of small healthy habits that you can implement to make your life one small bit better. It may feel really small or even boring, but we promise that keeping one small habit over the course of a year can make a huge difference. Even if the biggest difference is the confidence that it gives you in yourself.
